3 Tullow Tennis New Courts 2

Tullow & South Leinster Tennis & Sports Club Phase 1

Project details

U-values

The brief was to develop a professional Tennis facility that was sufficiently community inclusive and multifunctional to be a success in a provincial town.
Description:
As Tennis is the anchor sport the layout permits viewing of all courts from the court ends (both indoor & outdoor) together with a highly efficient use of space. Car parking is located under the 3 southern courts to minimise visual impact and maximise space available for courts etc. All courts are full size and individually fenced apart.
The main building is also located strategically to avoid overlooking of neighbouring properties and excessive proximity to important site boundaries. It’s location is also beneficial in terms of maximising passive security potential and simplifying operational procedures.
The proposal can be constructed in stages, with 3 outdoor tennis courts and the club house being the minimum that can be constructed initially, however as mentioned elsewhere to construct the project in several stages is not efficient financially and will also greatly extend the length of time the community needs to promote the project.
Phase 1 is now complete with the construction of 3 International Competition Grade Courts and a public playground for children aged 1 to 6. Thus 33% of the site is now developed. The courts also have 1076 Lux court lighting which is to the very highest international standards for international play. This system has been designed in conjunction with Philips Ireland.
