Sustainable Low Energy Restoration of Historic Dwelling

Project details

U-values

The brief was to restore and alter an existing Historic sustainable dwelling that responds to its environment.

This restoration of a dwelling is a good example of a strategically focused, site specific and climate reactive architectural design incorporating the very highest levels of insulation, complimented by macro design integrated passive solar design.

The main Thatched Cottage is the main part of the House but the old workshop and animal shed has been converted to provide the second part of the Dwelling.

The dwelling is heated via a high grade Aerothermal heat pump which also provides hot water all year around. The shed converted portion of the dwelling is particularly good at making use of solar gain throughout the year.
