Restoration & Extension of Existing Dwelling

Project details

U-values

This dwelling is a good example of an existing circa. 350 year old dwelling that was totally transformed by careful modification and restoration. The idea was to contrast the new contemporary extension with the existing dwelling after it’s restoration.
Description:
The existing dwelling has been insulated externally to bring it up to modern standards, while allowing for the original line rendered walls and selected stone walls to remain exposed internally.
The project is heated via a high grade geothermal heat pump and makes extensive use of passive solar design to minimise heating costs and maximise comfort. Timber panelling is provided internally to existing retained walls to allow for the adequate provision of services without damage or compromise to the existing retained fabric. The location of the extended area allows for the creation of an out door area which is decked off and sheltered and is a good area to sit in the sun.
The project is a very good example of Low Energy cost effective quality design.
