The brief for this project was to develop a comprehensive master-plan for the club going forward, address the existing design flaws and to design in the much needed additional facilities and make the facility fully accessible and building regulation compliant.
Description:
The existing facility comprises of a Pitch & Putt course in very good condition, a tennis club, indoor badminton courts, a squash court, table tennis & snooker etc. The facility has some significant deficiencies in that the current dressing rooms and sanitary facilities are completely out of date. The facility also have only 4 tennis courts and for a large town in an area well know for tennis this is just not enough. They club cannot effectively run a full “open week” tournament and there are big difficulties on weekday evenings when members look for courts.
The design proposal is to extend the main clubhouse to provide the facilities that are lacking and refurbish heavily the ground floor dressing rooms and all services. Externally the proposal is to properly complete the tennis areas, add two additional courts, a practice court and children’s play area etc. There are many items that need upgrading including all court lighting and fencing. This will all be managed in a comprehensive scheme to bring the facility up to full Tennis Ireland and ITF standards.
