The brief for this project was to construct a new Championship Padel Tennis court, redevelop the area to the rear and side of the Clubhouse and redevelop two existing artificial grass Tennis Courts as two new Artificial Clay Tennis Courts with an ITF Speed rating of 1.
Description:
The development followed the overall masterplan for the development of Kilkenny County & City Lawn Tennis Club and its facilities. The site of much of the development was a difficult land locked area to the east and south of the clubhouse at the back of the site. All available space was used to implement the development including moving of existing Tennis Courts 1 & 2 to make better use of space and increase the viewing areas. The Padel Tennis Court structure chosen was the panoramic variety to enhance viewing opportunities and maximise views at the rear of the site and enhance the feeling of space. The two existing artificial grass Tennis Courts (1 & 2) were redeveloped as two new Artificial Clay Tennis Courts with an ITF Speed rating of 1. This is important for the development of Tennis in Ireland and follows advice from the ITF & Tennis Ireland.
