Extension & Development of Existing Tennis Club

Project details

U-values

The brief for this project was to create a full masterplan for the site to include provision of an additional Championship Tennis Court. While the existing facility is a good one, there were several items lacking including provision for young children.
Description:
The existing club consists of a modern but modest clubhouse and two all weather tennis courts.
While as mentioned the facility is a good one considering it’s rural location between the Towns of Tipperary & Cashel it lacked ancillary facilities for Children in particular. The clubhouse is also used as a community facility and activities include dance classes, Yoga, Choir Practice, creche mornings etc. The Practice worked hard on developing a proper master-plan for the site and facility and included the additional court that was required to hold larger inter-club league events. After much research it was decided to include a dedicated and protected children’s play area for under 6 years in conjunction with a mini-practice court and practice wall that can be used by older children and adults alike as appropriate. It is proposed to erect elegant security fencing to help secure the play areas particularly for children and allow parents to play tennis while younger ones can have fun nearby but in a safe environment. There is as usual a very strong emphasis on sustainability and all new services will have automatic cut off sensors and the almost all light switches in the club house will be replaced by sensors etc. The proposed lighting for the new championship court will be 807 Lux and will be as efficient as possible. A new effluent treatment system will replace the inefficient Septic Tank system and help further protect the environment. Once the master plan was completed the club committee decided to proceed with the entire project.
